Embedding Conquest: Naturalizing Muslim Rule in the Early Islamic Empire (Project Report)

چکیده

The ERC-funded research project »Embedding Conquest«, based at Leiden University, studies the mechanics by which early Islamic rule took root in a tapestry of diverse territories and different social contexts. Based on large corpus documentary literary texts, especially letters, team has identified elements political, territorial, institutional cohesion stemming from interpersonal ties loyalty dependency binding individuals to each other state. This contribution presents project’s main scope achievements. Additionally, it focuses multilingualism, highlighting participation people religious groups shaping rule, line with this special issue’s focus collaboration among Muslims, Jews, Christians as colleagues period.
